TRP, I wish I could be as hopeful as you. But if even the most die-hard GOP supporter cannot understand that this bill gives our enemies permission to torture our brave men and women in uniform, then I have no idea what I can do to alter their opinion. I can vote the sunsabitches out, but that's about it.
Freedom has becme a cheap bumper sticker concept. I share your cynicism, hence my post about the draft. We have grown casual and thoughtles about the consequences of the government's actions. I don't expect the proverbial alarm clock to ring any time soon.
"You do not have to be good.
You do not have to walk on your knees
for a hundred miles through the desert, repenting,
You only have to let the soft animal of your body love what it loves.
Tell me about despair, yours, and I will tell you mine."

Freedom never loses forever. We'll remember who we are before long.
America is not dead. It's sleeping. You can help wake us up.

I haven't felt this bad since Mom died.
