It's OK

I know that when I'm faced with someone who has either suffered a recent loss or has a family member who is critical, my first reaction is one of dumbstruckness. I just don't know what to say. And who does, really? Whatever you say may be either too kind and optimistic or too cruel and pessimistic.

But it's OK to say anything to me right now.

You can send me an e-mail asking me about the particulars of "non-union, paid" theatrical contracts (thanks Lemming!). You can offer me tix to go see Barry Bonds visit RFK Stadium (thanks Dan!). You can even congratulate me on the 'Skins going 2-0 for the first time in forever (thanks various and sundry coworkers!).

I don't want to turn people away just because they may not know what to say to me.

Just say anything.

Really, it's OK.

Then I hope you stayed up for the whole game last night. Because the 4th quarter was so totally worth it!

Yours in social pleasantries ;-)

Ok...I'll be honest...it sucks that the Redskins are doing better than the Packers. Then again, most of the NFL is doing better than the Packers.

And yes, if you were a Redskins fan, you had to stay up late last night.

Just sit back and think of the green fireplace. You do remember the green fireplace, don't you?

(Y'know, if either of us had been entrepreneurial, we could have taken the green fireplace to the stars. In a superstar machine.)

I think I'm going to become a Republican and try to work a Dick Cheney/Pat Robertson ticket for '08. America is ready.

(Hey. You said it was OK to say anything.)

Here's hoping your dad keeps it coming--

Joe -- No, I was too exhausted to watch the whole thing. But I don't think my 'Skins fan credentials are in danger of being revoked. Monday was one of the worst days of my life.

John -- I hear ya, pal. My Sweetie, who is a Packers and a 'Skins fan, is alternating between euphoria and depression. At least the home team has a bye this weekend so she can focus her Green Bay mojo.

Hugh -- I love you, man. I really, really do. That comment made me laugh for about two minutes straight.

TRP -- It's NEVER OK to tease me like that, dude! Sheesh! Just save the time and whack me upside the head with an old 2x4.
